Don't get me wrong, I love shopping. But I have to be honest, it can sometimes be frustrating. Between the poorly lit fitting rooms with questionable mirrors and arduous return processes, it can really test someone's patience (that someone being me)! And don't get me started on trying to find the time to shop outside of school or work. Luckily, for anyone who wants to opt out of the traditional shopping modes that e-commerce sites and brick-and-mortar stores have for us, there is always a subscription service.

Clothing rental and subscription boxes are convenient and helpful options to alleviate some of that shopping stress. With rental services, you can pick out pieces you like, wear them for some time, and return them when you're ready for something new. Some subscription boxes allow you to work with a stylist to introduce you to the best clothing brands and to curate a wardrobe (say hello to compliment-worthy work outfits and date night looks) based on your preferences and budget. Both rental services and subscription boxes give you time to try things on at home (with the clothes you already own) so you can decide what works for you.

Below, I've put together a list of 14 different rental services and subscription boxes. I'll tell you all the details for each, give you the pros and cons, and I'll even highlight some rave reviews (some from Cosmo editors)! Fashion should be fun, and with these services, it can be!

Nuuly is a fan-favorite rental company. It's part of the URBN group, which, if you didn't know, owns Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People, among other brands. The rental service typically has a lot of great pieces from the aforementioned brands, as well as places like Madewell, Favorite Daughter, Levi's, and Good American.

With a Nuuly subscription, you can rent six styles per month for $98. If you fall in love with a piece you rented from Nuuly, you can even purchase it. Also! Your Nuuly order comes in a reusable zippered bag, so when it's time to return, simply put them back in the pouch and send them out.

Trendsend by EverEve is a clothing box service where you can take a style quiz, chat with a stylist, and get clothes picked out just for you. Your box of clothing will get delivered straight to your door or to an EverEve store near you—your choice. At an EverEve store, however, stylists there can help you decide which pieces to keep.

For your first box, you'll be charged a $1 styling fee. From then on, the fee is $20, but this will be applied as a credit to any items you purchase. Trendsend isn't a subscription, so you can pick and choose when you receive boxes.

Something notable about this one is that your stylist is curating outfits for you, not just selecting individual pieces. (We love personalized shopping!) When you receive the outfits, you have five days to decide which pieces you'd like to keep so hope that settles your mind some!

Short Story is a subscription box for folks in the petite category. Like some of the other subscription boxes we've seen, Short Story prompts you with a style quiz to help determine your style, size, and budget. You are then matched with a stylist who will pick items for you and about five or six come in each box. Anything you don't like, you can return for free.

The styling fee is $25 per box, and prices for the clothing range from $35 to $150. When you sign up, you create an online profile where you can share feedback with your stylist about which pieces work for you and which don't.

Okay, I know you've heard of this one! Rent the Runway is probably one of the most well-known fashion rental companies—and for good reason. They have great evening wear, everyday clothes, bags, and other accessories from so many of your fave brands. You name it, RTR has it.

With RTR, you choose your plan based on how many pieces you want per month. For instance, for $144 per month (and a first month of just $99), you can get five items at a time and two shipments a month...essentially that's ten new pieces for your wardrobe every 30 days!

RTR prioritizes shipping as quickly as possible, so based on the time you place your order, it'll ship to you in one to two business days which is definitely handy if you're a last-minute shopper (like me).

After creating an account, you can scroll through hundreds of pages of clothing, ranging from dresses to outerwear, and can rent up to 10 items at a time. The plus here is that you can send things back and pick out new items as many times as you want. With free shipping and unlimited exchanges, you'll pretty much always have something new to wear.

You get 50 percent off your first box, and if you refer a friend and they join, you get $25 off and they get 50 percent off their first month and $10 off their second.

Yes, lingerie subscription boxes are a thing! Adore Me's Elite Box prompts you with a style quiz to figure out your preferences. Then, you have seven days to try on your pieces and decide what you want to keep. Each box includes 4-7 items. Adore Me pays extreme attention to preference, you can even opt out of certain colors.

Calling all summertime lovers—this box is for you! Beachly is a quarterly subscription box that includes six to eight beach-inspired items for men and women. This could include apparel, coastal home decor, jewelry, or even skin and hair products.

When you sign up for Beachly, you have the option between two different memberships: seasonal or annual. With a seasonal Beachly membership you'll pay $99 each season for your box (essentially, pay $99 four times a year for each box). If you choose an annual membership, you'll pay $360 upfront for your four boxes per year (this would come out to $84 per box).

The Beachly box subscription is also fully customizable, meaning you can select the products that you'll receive in your box!

The service offers one subscription plan, $125 a month for unlimited rentals. You can receive up to five pieces at a time and once you're ready for something new, you can send your pieces back.

How it works: You're sent pieces based on what you save to a virtual closet and their availability—for a small extra fee, choose your exact pieces. Then, just keep swapping. You can cancel your subscription at any time.

You know the drill: Wantable is another subscription box service where stylists help you curate your wardrobe based on your style preferences and budget. Like other boxes of this nature, Wantable prompts you with a style quiz to understand what you're into. Your stylist will then pick out seven pieces for you, which you can revise before the box ships. You'll have five days to try on your clothes and decide what you'll keep and what you'll return.

Wantable offers themed edits, like "Desk to Drinks," along with classic themes, like "Active" and "Sleep and Body."

This service charges a $20 styling fee that can be credited back to you if you buy something from your edit. You can set your budget preferences in your profile, however Wantable products typically range from $50-$100.

Dr. Chic is another unlimited rental subscription service. Pay a flat rate of $50 per month and you can receive up to two items at a time and return when you are ready for your next styles. Dr. Chic handles all shipping fees and cleaning costs.

With Dr. Chic, you add your favorite pieces to your closet and are sent items based on what you have saved. If you fall in love with one of the things you've rented, you can buy it for a discounted price.

Armoire's style quiz creates a personalized closet for you and from there, you make your selects, and a box get shipped to your door.

Becoming a member gives you access to the PWR Feed which is kinda like an Instagram for Armoire users. See people wearing their Armoire rentals and get inspo for your next shipment.

Armoire has a few different types of subscription plans. The cheapest starts at $89 per month and allows you to rent four items per month. With all the plans, you can access Amoire's full inventory and get free styling tips whenever.

One of the most affordable rental services on our list is Haverdash, which gives you three styles a month for $59.

When you join Haverdash, you'll have the opportunity to start your online virtual closet where you can save items, remove items, or prioritize items that you love. You'll be sent pieces based on what is in your closet (with your priority pieces in mind). Once you're ready for something new, simply send back your old pieces with the pre-paid label and get ready for your new items!

Dia & Co is a great clothing subscription service specializing an an expanded size range, from 10/12 to 30/32. Similar to other subscription services, Dia & Co has a style quiz to help set up your profile and determine your preferences. It also has a $20 styling fee for each box, which can be applied to any items you decide to purchase.

The site offers a few different style plans based on the number of pieces you'd like. You can choose between the three, five, and seven-item style plans and switch or cancel at any time. When it comes to what's included in your style boxes, choose up to three pieces and your stylist will handle the rest.

Keeping three to four items from your box will give you a 20 percent discount, and, if you choose the seven-item style plan and keep all seven pieces, you get a 30 percent discount which sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
